His Madness EJ McCole American Whiskey
While our other spirits are all named for local Beaufort attributes, this one is personal for the Fackrell family. “His Madness” was a title given to a family friend, Steve “Oonie” Gaskins. “EJ” is for the Fackrell’s first born, Ethan James, who died at age 15 years in 2014 of an undetermined medical condition, also know as SUDC (Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood). “McCole” is for Brigid’s grandpa, Cornelius McCole, born in County Donegal, Ireland. He immigrated to the US in his late teens. This spirit is a tribute to these family and friends. We hope you will toast family and friends who have gone before us when you drink it, in true Irish fashion.
Our Limited Release American Whiskey is made from local barley – 1/3 Malted and 2/3 UnMalted. It has been aged in bourbon barrels for at least one year. We currently have 4 barrels and will be opening one a year. We proof it to the traditional Whiskey proof of 80, which makes it a smooth sippin’ whiskey.
